At present, the situation in Assam has become very bad due to floods. In some parts of Assam, many people have lost their lives. Floods have wreaked havoc in the state and now the death toll has reached 107, out of which 17 people have died in landslides.

A total of 4,536 villages are still in the grip of flood waters. Barpeta is the worst-affected district with over 10.32 lakh people displaced, followed by Nagaon with over 5.03 lakh displaced.

Assam State Government has started emergency helpline numbers 0361-2237219, 9401044617, 1079 (Toll Free) for rescue, relief and other emergencies of people in the affected areas of the district.

In view of the prevailing flood situation in Assam, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has expedited the rescue services by involving relevant stakeholders and deploying additional resources and support systems in the severely affected districts, especially Cachar .
